• News ⁄ Wind and Sun bring Czechs the Energy

    Printable Version

czech windturbThe first impression upon entering Austria from the Czech/Austrian border in Mikulov area is an impressive array of wind generators. The contrast should, however, disappear rather soon. In the nearest future the wind power contribution into energy production would increase tenfold. Right now the wind generators produce just 0.1% of electricity in the Czech Republic, in two year this share would be 1%. The new generation wind power towers will be installed, and wind-generated capacity would grow from 100 to 700 GWatt/H.
Solar energy is yet another source of electricity in addition to wind, and it is increasing either. The state brings subsidies to private households for solar batteries installations, including excess energy buyouts. Renewable energy sources have brought 2300 GWatt/H or roughly 3% of total energy production – compared to lesss then 1% in the year 2000.
