*The UN Climate Conference, COP15, will be held in Copenhagen on 7-18 December 2009. The aim is to finalise a global climate agreement that will replace the Kyoto Protocol, which expires in 2012. Signatories to the new treaty will commit to limits on emissions of CO2 and other greenhouse gases that have a direct and detrimental impact on the climate and on future generations. New and more efficient energy technologies are a prerequisite for cutting CO2 emissions.

The stamps of this issue depict four particular technologies. One of them - is wind turbine.

Denmark is a pioneer in the wind turbine industry. Land-based turbines are still the cheapest option, but the current trend is for large mills in low-water areas. Offshore farms produce more energy because there is more wind at sea (as well-known wind farm near Kopenhagen).
