    *Queen's Park was officially opened on the 10th June, 1909 by Lady Gilbert-Carter, wife of the then Governor, Sir Thomas Gilbert-Carter.

    At the opening ceremony Lady Carter was presented with a golden key which was also used to unlock the Park gates.

    Many famous persons have visited Queen's Park over the years. These include Prince Albert (later George VI), Princess Marie Louise and Teddy Roosevelt (ex-President of the USA), Queen Elizabeth and HRH Prince Philip.

    Queen's Park is presently home to various activities including art and agricultural exhibitions, dramatic productions, cultural events, sporting activities and is still the place to go to meet friends and have romantic encounters. There is also a vibrant play park for children.

    Christmas morning in Queen's Park is world renowned. Many visitors and locals congregate in a dazzling array of fashion to hear the beautiful music of the Royal Barbados Police Band and other talented local artistes.
