Wind Farm in Gaomei Wetland*

Gaomei Wetland Preservation Area is a wetland in Qingshui District, Taichung, Taiwan.

Gaomei Wetlands is a flat land which spans over 300 hectares, but it is only about 10% of Dadu River wetlands.

Gaomei Wetlands was established on 29 September 2005.

With its unique scenery combined with diversified organisms of both plants and animals, and wind power generators, Gaomei Wetland has become a tourist attraction, which connects people, environment and energy.  Gaomei Wetland is featured for its breathtaking huge wind turbines and numerous creatures, such as crabs and mudskippers in the 300 hectare land. It was actually a beach which was closed due to sand accretion twenty years ago. After few years, it became a wetland which is rich for abundant ecological resources which attracts various migratory birds. Taiwan Power Company built 18 wind power turbines in Gaomei Wetland (6 of which in August 2015, Typhoon Sudalore destroyed), as to the special geographical location, where there is northeast wind in winter, called the Wind of September.
