  • Subject:

The Penny Royal Windmill, is one of the largest Tower Mills ever built, with the overall width of the cap being twenty-four feet, and the height of the mill to the tips of the sail being over ninety feet. Each of the massive thirty-two feet sails or sweeps weighs over one ton, and the sails Windshaft and Great Brake wheel have a combined weight of almost nine tons.

It took four years of painstaking research to rediscover from old records and the few remaining wheelwrights alive in the world today, the long lost secrets of the workings of the wooden machinery without which the rebuilding of this magnificent Windmill would not been possible.
